Two Top Ten Wins in 2 weeks wins

Professionals David Gleeson and Anthony Kang have both met with success in the last two weeks after finishing in the top ten on the Asian Tour with a GEL Groove Putter in their bags. Australia’s Gleeson secured joint fifth position in last week’s Hero Honda Indian Masters at the Delhi Golf Club with a total score of 282, six under par, whilst American Kang took seventh slot the week before in the Kolon-Hana Bank Korea Open with a one-under-par 283 over the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, Korea.

“My joint fifth in India marks my first top ten in a long while and I put it down to good work with my putter,”said Gleeson. “This finish has given me a huge confidence boost and let’s hope I can continue to keep rolling the putts in and secure some silverware.” Alec Pettigrew, managing director of GEL Golf, who manufacture the innovative GEL putters, commented, “David and Anthony’s recent performances using the GEL putter are hugely encouraging and as more and more players trial our putters, I am sure this will be reflected in the better positions they achieve in tournaments.

“The horizontal grooves in our putters create more topspin and keep the ball rolling more truly and this resultsin good putts being rewarded as both David and Anthony are finding. We are very confident at GEL that it will only be a matter of time before one of them wins a tournament with the help of our putters.” In order to give professionals on the Asian Tour a better opportunity to trial its putters, GEL Golf has just appointed Caesar Bayliss as a Tour representative who will ensurethat GEL has a presence at every event on Tour. A PGA Golf Professional, Bayliss has worked alongside putting guru Dr Paul Hurrion of the independent equipment consultancy, Quintic.

“I am delighted to be GEL’s representative on the Asian Tour and look forward to introducing the Tour pros to the GEL putter which I believe is one of the best new products on the market; it not only looks good, but performs well whilst independent testing has proved that it outperforms a number of top household brands,” said Bayliss. Tests earlier in the year by Quintic proved that grooved putter faces produce greater grip withthe golf ball at the moment of impact, therefore enhancing a putter’s ability to produce the desired topspin roll on the ball.

Throughout the testing process, the GEL putters outperformed a number of top competitive brands on the market such as Odyssey, Titleist and PING. Though only launched into the golf market at the start of the year, the GEL Groove Putterwas has already created quite a stir with its innovative use of horizontal aluminium, precision-cut grooves and its bright WINN grip colourways of blueand yellow for men, and blue and pink for the ladies. Tour professionalswere also consulted during the design process which resulted in manufacturing the GEL putters with larger, heavier and more balanced heads, to encourage an even smoother and more rhythmical putting stroke.
